At Hinton Public School, inclusive education is central to our teaching and learning. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where every student is recognised, respected and encouraged to thrive academically, socially, emotionally and physically, regardless of their background or individual learning needs.

For students requiring additional support, the Learning and Support Teacher (LaST) provides small group intervention through withdrawal sessions or in class support, working alongside the classroom teacher. These programs target key areas of the curriculum, including literacy, numeracy and social and emotional learning. By focusing on specific goals in a calm and nurturing setting, students are supported to build skills, develop confidence and experience success.

We also offer enrichment opportunities for students who are ready to be challenged beyond the core curriculum. These programs include advanced problem solving, project based learning and activities that foster critical thinking, creativity and independence, enabling students to deepen their understanding and extend their potential.

Strong partnerships with families, carers and the wider school community are central to our inclusive approach. We believe open communication and collaboration between home and school are essential to student success. For students with a range of complex needs, including intellectual, physical, social, emotional, behavioural, sensory and communication needs, we work together to develop Personalised Learning Support Plans (PLSPs) and Individualised Educational Plans (IEPs). These plans reflect each student’s unique strengths, challenges and goals, ensuring that consistent and effective support is embedded across the school day.

Through strong partnerships with families, carers and the school community, and the development of Personalised and Individualised Learning Plans, we ensure that support is consistent, effective and tailored to each student. At Hinton Public School, inclusion is not just a goal, it is our daily practice.

What is High Potential and Gifted Education?

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

• effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
• tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
• access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE).

When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose an option from the approved providers offered at our school.

Students not attending SRE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.
